Chrysanthemum

This artwork comes from a reverse-engineering of an existing ink painting. The challenge that our team - the RoboLions - has taken on is the problem of recreating the original brushstrokes of the artist with only the final painting as a reference. One way of reverse-engineering the brushstrokes is by taking each stroke individually and finding the 'skeleton' of the stroke which coincides with the centre line traced by the artist's paintbrush. The dandelioin is a one of the simplest scenarios to implement this 'skeletonisation' technique as there are very few overlapping parts between the petals, stem, and the leaves. We have added three layers of grey to mimic the shading in the original artwork.
