Bust of Homer

With this painting I tried to achieve subtle modelling of form through mixing of colors on the canvas during the painting process. Eight colors are used, and brushstroke patterns designed prior to painting, using a program that generates brushstrokes according to predetermined rules. No feedback system is used. Once the painting begins, it just runs until the procedure is completed, which is conducive to achieving pictorial unity. I chose a Greek sculpture as the topic because such sculptures have traditionally been used in art schools to learn to understand and convey form in painting and drawing.
